Earth and Space Week competition Author: Alexa Joyce
Earth & Space Week (12-20 February 2005) was a European Commission and European Space Agency (ESA) initiative showing how Earth Observation (EO) and Space improve quality of life on our planet. The week included cultural, recreational and educational activities, a major public exhibition, and high-level policy-related events.
European Schoolnet cooperated with the EC, ESA and Hill & Knowlton to offer a competition for schools. Children were invited to design a "flag for planet Earth". Nine children were rewarded for their excellent work at a special prize-giving ceremony during Earth & Space Week.
