home > Media services > News > Congratulations to the Eurocompetition finalists! Congratulations to the Eurocompetition finalists! The finalists of the Eurocompetition (www.eurocompetition.net), a poster competition to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the euro, are now published! From 15 September to 31 December 2008 over 1,800 schoolchildren from the euro area took part in this online competition organised by the European Commission. The posters created by 10-14 year-old pupils express the first euro generation’s thoughts on the benefits and the future of the common currency. An international group of teachers selected the finalists representing the top three from all the euro-countries including Slovakia, which just joined the euro area. Due to the diversity, creativity and originality of the posters, many fascinating works were left outside the finalists’ list. Therefore the Eurocompetition team wants to congratulate all the young artists of their excellent works! The final winners – one per country and one overall winner - will be announced in the beginning of February. The overall winner will be invited to Brussels where his/her poster will be presented in a press event in the presence of Mr Joaquín Almunia, the European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs.
