STELLA project boosts science education in Europe
Author: EUN News

The STELLA project aims to foster better science education in Europe. In 2009, the STELLA team is creating a set of guidelines for documentation and transferability of good practices, which is an issue currently being debated in many countries. The guidelines are targeted to teachers, decision makers, school authorities and school heads and will be disseminated both at national and European level. The STELLA portal, which brings together interested stakeholders, aims to collect science education practices all over Europe.

Open forums for broad discussions on education
Everyone interested in science education can participate in the discussions on the STELLA online forums and communities with teachers, teacher trainers, experts and with the STELLA team. The topics, science education and interesting practices, are discussed both at national level (national forums for Germany, France, Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria) and across countries (European forums).

Use the online questionnaire and multimedia tools to share your favourite initiatives
Teachers are invited to submit their favourite initiatives and projects to the European catalogue of science education initiatives using an easy and quick online questionnaire. Also the Multimedia Tools are developed further to help teachers to describe in an interactive way their projects and activities and encouraging also the pupils and students to take part in the documentation process.

Properly filled in questionnaires are published on the European catalogue of science education initiatives, which is accessible online for everybody interested in science education. The most interesting science education initiatives will be analysed in depth and become part of the Pool of good practices which is also disseminated online and by means of a handbook on Innovative practices in science education for European schools.

STELLA project is funded with support from the European Commission within the Lifelong Learning Programme. It aims to improve the science education in Europe by inspiring teachers’ and experts’ communication and exchange of ideas on teaching methods and best practices.
