In its second year the “Energy is our Future” school programme (FuturEnergia) focuses on enhancing and supporting energy education across the curriculum in schools. The programme is intended to raise awareness on how energy consumption might affect climate change and how advanced materials such as plastics can help save energy and create a sustainable future.

In its second year the “Energy is our Future” school programme (FuturEnergia) the focus is on enhancing and supporting energy education across the curriculum in schools. The programme is intended to raise awareness on how energy consumption might affect climate change and how advanced materials such as plastics can help save energy and create a sustainable future.

FuturEnergia Chats are special activities that involve a number of experts and classes to discuss energy related themes, how design and materials influence energy consumption and contribute to finding sustainable energy solutions.

To date three chat activities were organised. They involved as guests Ray Hammond, Futurologist, Dr Matthias Hensel, Director of Luwoge, Germany and Pedro Ballesteros Torres, Expert, DG Energy and Transport, the European Commission.

The fourth FuturEnergia chat, 31 January 2008, focus on how to turning desert into fertile land with plastics. The chat guest is Mrs. Antonia Morales Perez, Subdirector, Technical Service & Development Laboratory, BU Polyolefins Repsol
