Education Portals Committee (EPC)

The Education Portals Committee (EPC) was set up by the Steering Committee in October 2004 as a framework for knowledge transfer between managers of national education portals.

EPC enables national portal authorities to have an overview of existing European education portal platforms, to analyse interoperability between platforms, to update about trends in portal technology and to form a network of expertise ready to provide mutual consultancy.

EPC will work more particularly on the following key issues:
- Sharing Best Practices in Education Portal Deployment
- Sharing Learning Resources and Educational Information
- Learning with Education Portals – The Pedagogical added values
- Trends and innovation in Portal Technology

EPC may identify work items to work in smaller groups on specific topics.

Cooperations
In the field of interoperability and standards, EPC will cooperate with LIFE (Learning Interoperability Framework for Europe). Learning Resources, eContent and eLearning issues will be discussed with CELEBRATE project management group.

Meetings
The EPC meets twice a year: in early spring and in the autumn.
