Teachtoday provides information and advice for teachers, head teachers, governors and other members of the school workforce about the positive, responsible and safe use of new technologies.

Teaching is one of the professions that has radically changed over the past decade, in particular due to the rapid take-up of ICT in society. The TeachToday portal aims at empowering teachers with regard to new technologies. By putting the highlight on all the latest and hottest issues – media literacy, privacy, cyberbullying, lack of support to integrate internet safety in teaching, use of games in schools – and providing advice and teaching resources, Teachtoday supports the teachers in their classroom.

Available in English, Czech, French, German, Italian and Spanish, TeachToday provides teachers with a wealth of information. This includes lesson plans, case studies, reporting procedures, as well as outline policies which are designed to keep them abreast of the changes in communication technology. The website facilitates teachers to guide their pupils to take advantage of the opportunities and avoid the risks of new technology.

Fourteen leading mobile operators, mobile content, social networking companies and internet providers support this initiative: AOL, BEBO, Buongiorno, Deutsche Telekom /T-Mobile, Facebook, Google, GSMA Europe, Microsoft, MySpace, Orange, 02/Telefonica, Telecom Italia, Vodafone and Yahoo! Europe.
This is the first time such a significant number of major businesses have worked together to address this complex issue.
